Charles Loft is Transport Advisor at the Local Government Association and author of “Last Trains: Dr Beeching and the Death of Rural England.” His expertise makes him a popular TV and radio commentator – his most recent appearance being on BBC Four’s ‘Ian Hislop Goes off the Rails’.

 

Previously an academic, Charles Loft has also worked as a Lecturer at Queen Mary College, London, Huddersfield University, and as Fulbright Robertson Professor of History at Westminster College Fulton, Missouri, USA. He maintains contact with academics, the academic world and Kindred Spirits through OUAMEAS.
